Die Ankunft in Grabouw scheint schon lang her,
für unsere drei ersten Ritter noch viel mehr.
An dieser Stelle nochmals Dank,
denn ohne Fundament, Stützen und Bodenplatte das Haus sonst sank.

Already seems so long ago,
A spezial thanks to our first three boys,
who set the poles and slab with poise.
Without you our house would sink,
even though our beams have a kink.
Mit offenen Armen wurden wir hier empfangen,
von den Housemum´s, den Kindern und ein paar Schlangen.
Von Tim und Tim und Maz und Johann,
die bei jeder Frage an unserer Seite warn.
Und unser Heinrich,
der regelmäßig um die Baustelle schlich.
We were welcomed with open arms,
by the kids, the housemums, and a few snake alarms.
To Tim and Maz and Johann and Tim,
thanks to you and Heinrich for our midday swim.
We are glad when you come down here for a talk
While it seems the other visitors seem just to stalk.
Als naive Studenten kamen wir vor vier Wochen hier her,
und die südafrikanische Sonne traf einige schwer.
Das Andere war der Verdauungstrakt,
der große Schwierigkeiten macht.
Da fällt das warten auf die Toilette schwer,
und der Äthiopier unterstütze die Sache noch mehr.
Four weeks ago as we naive students arrive
the south african sun made it hard to survive.
And the digestive situation didnt make it much better,
If the bathroom is free, then hurry, go get her.
Trotz diverser Ausfälle und Super-Gau´s
sieht das Haus doch recht passabel aus.
So trinken wir den Wein,
und lassen dies auch nicht in 6m Höhe sein.
Despite the mistakes, and here and there a blooper,
you must admit, the house already looks pretty darn super.
To that, we pour ourselves a big ole glass,
and invite you folk 6 meters below,
sitting amognst the snakes in the grass,
to cheers us and thank god we are away from the snow!
Regelmäßig gestärkt durch Kartoffeln, Reis und Bohnen,
sollte sich die Arbeit jeden Tag lohnen.
So wächst das Haus schon weit hinaus,
So schnell es begann, so ist der Bau bald aus.
With our daily portions of potatoes, rice and beans
We wake up early to put on our work jeans,
and slowly but surely watch the house grow,
and already regret that soon we must go.
Trinken wir auf jedes Team,
welches zu diesem Ehrentag erschien.
It is time to thank and recognize each team,
for their great effort and self-esteem.
Ein herzliches Willkommen an die Membran,
die den Weg vom Township zur Baustelle auf sich nahm.
A warm-hearted welcome to the Membrane troop,
who came back from the township just to regroup.
Das Team der Präzisen,
die sich als wahre Anpassungskünstler erwiesen.
A round of applause for Team precise,
for only through their windows can the world look so nice.
Die Mädels der Wände,
ohne die das Haus nicht stände.
Deren Hintern verzückt
Und jeder Bub gern auf sie blickt.
And the ladies from the wall,
without you our house would fall.
And now our guests can stay warm without concern,
and you all have lovely bottoms, nice and firm.
Das fleißige Team der Schalung,
nach dem Strohmischen auch öfter mit Kriegsbemalung.
And the boys and girl of team Casing,
who had a rough start, but just keep on racing!
And even when their not plywood fixing,
they have fun with their clay and straw mixing.
Danke auch an unsere zwei Prinzessinen der Planung,
denn Verantwortung erfordert Ahnung,
und deswegen auch immer mal wieder eine Ermahnung.
A spezial thanks to the queens of planing,
whose responsibility is quite demanding,
and therefor indulge occasionally in reprimanding.
Zu guter Letzt,
das Team, auf das Jeder setzt.
Eines ist klar,
ohne das Tragwerksteam wären wir heut alle nicht da.
And Last but not least,
the team at the core of the beast,
with your beloved team of construction,
this bunker will never see destruction.
Der letzte Nagel wird nun versenkt,
Tim und Maz, wir wünschen viel Glück und hoffen,
wir haben das Haus in die richtige Richtung gelenkt.
Now the last nail will be hammered,
we can all raise our glass, and get… well not too hammered
because tomorrow the work must go onward
so that we can one day doesnt look so awkward.
And now the last nail has been set,
Tim and Maz are happy I bet,
To drive through the gate and look down the slope,
and set eyes on the new and improved village of hope.
